Taste first.
Reveal together.
Blind tasting is the method behind everything Hidden Bottle Collective does: wines are poured with the labels concealed, tasted and judged on what is in the glass, then revealed.
Hidden Bottle Collective is opening a small number of founding tasting dates in New Zealand. Register your interest and we’ll talk through your event.
What is a Hidden Bottle Collective blind tasting?
A blind tasting is a wine tasting where the labels stay hidden until everyone has tasted and made up their own mind. Hidden Bottle Collective is a New Zealand wine discovery business that runs blind tastings through a digital platform: each bottle is concealed and numbered, guests taste and record their impressions on their phone, and the wine is revealed afterwards with its producer, region, vintage and story.
How does a blind tasting work?
The bottles are concealed and numbered before anyone sees them. Guests scan a QR code to open the tasting on their own phone, taste each wine in order, and record what they think — the variety, the region, the price, or simply whether they liked it. When the tasting is done, the wines are revealed one by one.
It takes three steps: taste, guess, reveal. See how it works in full
What is the difference between Curated Releases and Corporate Tastings?
Curated Releases — Hidden Bottle Collective selects, conceals and delivers six wines to your door. You taste them blind, in your own time, and reveal each bottle by scanning its tag. Explore Releases
Corporate Tastings — you or your venue choose and provide the wines for an event you are already planning. HBC turns that lineup into a guided blind tasting for the room, and guides your host through the reveal. Explore Corporate Tastings
Can HBC work with wines supplied by the organiser?
Yes. In the Corporate Tastings format the organiser or venue chooses, purchases and pours the wine. HBC provides the preparation and concealment instructions, the blind tasting structure, guest access, host guidance and the shared reveal. HBC does not supply the wine in that format.
Do guests need to download an app?
No. Guests scan a QR code and join through their phone browser. Internet access is required at the venue — venue Wi-Fi or reliable mobile data is enough.
Where are blind tastings available in New Zealand?
Hidden Bottle Collective is based in Central Otago. Curated Releases are delivered throughout New Zealand, and a limited number of corporate tasting dates are opening across the country.
