Lakeside Road Wines is a small family operation in the Cromwell Basin, Central Otago. The vineyard was established in 2004 on a north-facing terrace above Lake Dunstan — chosen for its schist soils, its altitude, and the long growing season the basin's particular microclimate makes possible.

The winery produces approximately 1,800 cases per year from estate-grown fruit. The approach in the winery is minimal: wild yeast fermentation, extended maceration, and ageing in used French oak. The wines are not made to impress quickly.

The 2023 Pinot Noir was harvested in late April after an unusually dry summer. Yields were low. The fruit concentration is notable but the wine is defined by its structural tension rather than its weight.
